American Shorthairs are low-maintenance cats. These beautiful cats are not only lovely to look at, but healthy, easy-going and affectionate.Males are significantly larger then females, weighing ten to twelve pounds and females weighing six to eight pounds when they achieve full growth at three to four years of age. American Shorthairs can live fifteen to twenty years, requiring only annual vaccinations, veterinary checkups, a quality diet and plenty of tender loving care.

American Shorthairs are gentle cats that make wonderful companions. They get along well with children and dogs and are known for their quiet disposition and good temperaments. They have sturdy solid bodies, with broad shoulders and chest, powerful legs and strong paws.

A sweet open expression, plump-cheeked and bright- eyed, with a medium to short nose, square muzzle, and widely spaced ears. Thick, hard coat; requires minimal care. Enjoys eating and is rarely choosey. Attaches itself to family and home but needs room for its frequent bursts of energy.
